The sword is absolutely beautiful and sharp enough to shave with. The scabbard is like the design is engraved into the leather before being painted silver with is pretty cool. It's sturdy and the blade fits nicely in the scabbard. All in all I'm happy with this new addition to my now 7 katana sword collection.

I could not be more pleased with my order of the pictured katana. First, the packaging was very well done. Order arrived in a styrofoam box wrapped in water proof yellow tape. Inside, the blade was in its scabbard (saya) which was in a clear plastic wrap for protection. Upon removing the blade, I found it inside of an oiled tubular plastic wrap for corrosion protection. Second, the scabbard had a beautiful, consistent coloration and was made of hardwood with gold fittings - classy. Third the blade - 5/16" thick at the crossguard (tsuba) tapering to 3/16" at the tip. The differential heat treating line was stunning. The blade was very sharp and the handle was also covered in clear plastic wrap for protection. What a great value - I will definitely be a repeat customer!

The katana I recently purchased from TrueKatana was a thing of beauty! The timeframe on it was very reasonable and the engraving was a bit larger than I anticipated. The leather covered saya was exquisite and the steel was excellent.
The only concern was that I asked for the blade to be "ultral" sharpened.
We sell many katanas to martial artist competitors in Tameshigiri. Our katanas are usually rated by our BESS scale as 170 grams or less (As sharp as a double edged razor blade). We had asked for the "ultra" sharpness on this sword, but when tested, it came in at around 200 grams (closer to a single edged razor knife).

However, me and my father gave a sneak peek test run of the sword and it is damn good of a sword. Very sturdy and I like the fact that it has some weight to it.
