The blade of this tanto is forged from T10 high-carbon steel and finished by hand, producing a clean polished surface with a genuine hamon line running the length of the edge. The full-tang construction runs the steel continuously through the handle, giving the piece solid structural integrity from tip to pommel. The tsuka is built over the full tang and wrapped in authentic white ray-skin (samegawa), which provides a slightly textured foundation beneath the outer wrap. Black cotton cord is wound in the classic diamond-gap pattern over the samegawa, and gold-tone menuki ornaments are secured beneath the wrap at the grip points - visible as small gilded shapes through the wrap openings in the main image.

The tsuba is cast iron, finished in a black-and-gold tone, and carries a dragon theme in low-relief carving across its circular face. A gold-toned habaki collar seats the blade cleanly against the tsuba, completing the transition between blade and handle. The saya is crafted from hardwood and finished in a gloss black lacquer coat, producing a smooth, deep surface.
