The swords arrived 7-8 days after they were shipped. I had received an email confirming the order when I placed it, however I did not receive an email when it shipped, so I didn't know to look for them. They may have been outside a day before I noticed the boxes. With that said the boxes arrived in good shape with no obvious shipping damage. I'm not the biggest fan of the all styrofoam containers, due to it being a little messy when opening the packaging, but I can't deny it did an excellent job in protecting the swords as they arrived in perfect condition. I haven't had a chance to cut any water bottles yet, but all of the swords seem reasonably sharp. Everything seems well built with no obvious defects that I can tell at this time.

The Good: this iaito has a nice simple aesthetic. The blade and handle are well balanced and it is sufficient for beginner Iaido training.
The Bad: at this price point there are some compromises that have been made that I would like to see changed on a newer model. They are as follows.
1. The plastic saya is disappointing. Plastic shavings get stuck to the blade, there’s a lot of rattle, and even a cheap wooden saya would have been much preferred to plastic.
2. The edge of the iaito is kind of fat. This might be a good thing for beginners worried about stabbing themselves (iaito can still be sharp on the tip, even sharp enough to cut flesh or stab into something) but a thinner and more refined edge would have been better.
3. The handle wrapping is a little loose, but for the price that is expected.
Despite all these negatives the sword definitely allows me to train in a way that’s better than a bokken for Iaido and for that I would recommend it for a tight budget iaidoka looking for their first training iaito.

I really like this particular unsharpened katana. I went the unsharpened route to avoid damaging my kickboxing stand I practice swings with sometimes and am happy with the weight distribution as it's a bit lighter feeling than some of the sharpened katanas I've used in the past. This makes me want another for my other hand which I'll probably get at some point.

True katana has been a fabulous company for me personally. I can buy replicas of real samurai swords that are made by a real Smith, but not as real as the authentic older ones. I love collecting swords and these are great and true katana has a great team, and I received the swords and less than two weeks, if I was to buy sword, it would From true katana! I've ordered 6 swords from Truekatana. This picture represents a Chinese Straight Sword and Chinese Broadsword I purchsed. I'm not a metalurgist, forgemaster or swordmaster. I learned a little Shao lin and wu shu broadsword in my youth, but that's about it. All that said these swords are truly functional, beautifully balanced and of exquisite workmanship. Besides being weapons they are beautiful works of art. I like to collect swords of all types and these two are among the most expensive I've bought, both being in the $1000 range. They are also, by far, the nicest.
I've also bought two katanas and two wakizashi. Though I did not venture into the same price range, they are truly viable weapons and beautiful art pieces.
Truekatana has truly exceptional pieces, fully functional as well as beautiful to behold. They are worth every penny and if you wait for a sale you will likely find something you like at a better than fair price.

The shipping was fast- I believe it was at my door 5 days from when I placed the order.
As for the katana, the Saya is plastic and the blade is aluminum, making it extremely light weight and easy to wield. I've only had it for a day and done some basic drawing/drills with it. Admittedly I am concerned about how it will hold up to even light contact, so time will tell.
For now I am happy with it, but the price does seem high for a practice weapon (based on the plethora of "sharp" edged, and probably poor quality, weapons I could have gotten for a fraction of the price). If I can get a couple years of use out of it, I'd say it was worth it.

An exquisite craftmanship, very sturdy, genuine materials and really beautiful.
Only one point of disappointment, and it is a major one for me;
like written in your description of this Tanto :
- "razors edge sharp"
- "battle-ready swords"
- "built for cutting" (?!)
- "extremely sharp hand honed edge".
I am afraid it is not true.
I own a Katana with those qualities and this Tanto is not near
to cut something at all. It is even dull at some points to say the truth.
....but 4 stars anyway because it is awesome for display.
